Wireless infrastructure for a reliable guest experience
The Springfield Hotel is a 58-bedroomed modern hotel situated just outside the historical town of Leixlip. With a mix of Business, Leisure and Wedding Guests. With large meeting rooms, many business guests and hosting Weddings, Conferences and events, Connectivity is paramount.
Challenge
Due to the properties expansive size, constant guest occupancy and the dining & conference facilities , installation had to provide a robust coverage throughout the property not only allowing users to connect to the internet but allowing seamless handover while moving throughout the premises. The installation had to be done in a manner which did not disturb guests or events continuing and be reliable and provide acceptable speeds to todays demanding consumer.
Solution
The Wireless infrastructure present was a fractured installation of a few generations of older access points. We performed an analysis to determine any demand spots which lacked signal coverage and also set out a plan to best position and configure access points to provide the best possible wireless experience to guests. We chose Cisco 4×4 Radio 802.11ac Wave 2 access points which provided cutting edge speed with excellent range and seamless handover. A Cisco Meraki firewall provides robust connection load balancing for High Availability as well as a solid captive portal platform to ensure an easy to use guest experience while allowing regulatory compliance.
This was all carried out with minimal impact on guests wireless experience.
Outcome
The Wi-Fi coverage, reliability and speed is much improved for the guest and event / food / conference areas.
The new Cisco access points have increased manageability and reliability over the incumbent solution.
